ETHICS

Ethics & Professional Standards

The auction process requires a level of trust between the client, the customer, and the auction professional that often exceeds standard business relationships. That trust is foundational to how MEGA Auctions operates.

MEGA Auctions is committed to conducting auctions and asset disposition services with integrity, transparency, and accountability. This Code of Ethics reflects the standards we apply to our work and the responsibilities we accept in fostering trust with clients, customers, and the public.

Responsibilities To Clients And Customers

Acting In The Client's Best Interest

MEGA Auctions is committed to protecting and promoting the interests of our clients. This obligation of loyalty is primary, but it does not relieve us of our responsibility to treat all parties fairly.

  • We do not promote unreasonable expectations about auction outcomes in order to secure business.
  • We enter into written agreements, or at a minimum clear oral agreements, that define the terms and conditions of each engagement.
  • We do not agree to withhold material information from the public when such information would be unsafe, illegal, or relevant to a bidder's decision-making.
  • We do not profit from expenditures incurred on behalf of a client without the client's prior knowledge and consent.

Compensation & Conflicts Of Interest

  • MEGA Auctions does not accept compensation from any party other than the client without full disclosure to all parties involved.
  • Any potential conflict of interest is disclosed to the client prior to engagement.
  • We do not provide professional services involving property in which we, our firm, or immediate family members have an ownership interest without full disclosure and client consent.

Confidentiality & Professional Judgment

  • Client information is treated as confidential and is not disclosed without consent, except where required by law.
  • We recognize the limits of our expertise and seek outside counsel, assistance, or referrals when circumstances require specialized knowledge, geographic experience, or technical expertise.

Fair Treatment Of Customers

MEGA Auctions owes customers honesty, integrity, and fair dealing at all times.

  • Auction terms and conditions are clearly disclosed prior to bidding.
  • Buyers are provided appropriate documentation following a sale, including bills of sale or contracts where applicable.
  • Participation as a bidder by MEGA Auctions is permitted only where allowed by law, with client consent and full public disclosure.
  • We do not bid on behalf of a client without adequate public disclosure.

Legal & Financial Responsibility

  • MEGA Auctions does not engage in the unauthorized practice of law and encourages parties to seek legal counsel when appropriate.
  • Funds held on behalf of others are maintained in trust accounts when required by law or regulation.

Responsibilities To The Public

MEGA Auctions is committed to protecting the public against fraud, misrepresentation, concealment of material facts, or unethical practices.

  • Advertising and public representations are accurate and not misleading.
  • Known adverse factors affecting auction property are disclosed when material to decision-making.
  • To promote transparency and reduce misunderstandings, we maintain appropriate records of auctions conducted, including audio, video, or digital records where applicable.
  • We comply with all applicable laws and regulations governing the auction profession and related business activities.

Responsibilities To The Profession

MEGA Auctions supports ethical conduct within the auction and asset disposition profession.

  • We do not criticize competitors using false or deceptive information.
  • Confidential information about colleagues or business partners is not shared without consent.
  • Information obtained through joint ventures, employment, or collaboration is treated as confidential unless disclosure is authorized in writing.
  • We follow all applicable rules and standards of the National Auctioneers Association (NAA), including policies governing professional conduct and events.
  • We cooperate fully with any investigations or disciplinary proceedings when requested by appropriate authorities or professional bodies.

Enforcement & Accountability

Ethical standards are not abstract principles. They directly affect:

  • Client confidence
  • Buyer trust
  • Legal defensibility
  • Long-term professional relationships

MEGA Auctions applies these standards consistently across abandoned property services, asset services, and public auctions.
